It’s been over a year since I posted anything here but sometimes surprises do happen!
As any readers of this blog probably know, the past year has been rough for me in terms of writing. There were a lot of stresses in my life between work and family-related issues and I wasn’t able to find the time or state-of-mind to write. Because of that, the content flow of this blog sort of fell off the map and despite my best man, Prinny’s, efforts to keep it alive, it just wasn’t the same when one of the site owners was missing for an extended period of time.
However, with my situation improving I’ve found renewed energy to pick up the pen again and make up for lost ground. Over the past year I’ve met a lot of new faces – many with a wealth of knowledge about anime production – and I feel my perspective on the animated medium has grown as a result. I’d love to be able to share a lot of these new ideas I have with the community and blogging has always been my go-to method of doing so.
With that said, I’d also like to announce a couple of changes. Over the past few years, Moe-Alternative has taken on more and more writers – many of which are new to Ani Blogging and are still getting their feet wet. As such, this blog has turned into more of a community effort than when I initially started it back in 2011. I’ve spoken with my fellow site-owner Prinny about this a couple times and both of us feel that having a place where we can foster a new generation of bloggers is a great undertaking, and I’d like to keep it that way.
At the same time, I’ve also considered the idea of a personal portfolio for a while now – around the time I was contacted for an interview at Crunchyroll last year. While a community blog is great for the camaraderie and diversity of opinion, I’d also like something that I can attach my name to if the need arises. As a result I decided to open up a subdomain of Moe-Alternative and create a personal site for anything I write from now on. I’d also like to possibly expand beyond writing about anime and Japanese culture from time to time, and given that Moe-Alternative was opened with the intention of writing about those areas, another blog made sense.
I’ll still be posting articles here but for the next while I’ll be taking a step back and helping some of our other writers get their content out. They’re all great people who you should definitely support if you enjoy what they’ve written!
In short you can consider this announcement my return to blogging. You can also find my new blog at: http://ddk.moe-alternative.net/
