It’s time to get your bible and your shotgun, anime hobbyists are under attack.

With the recent uproar among video game enthusiasts over the various “GamerGate” controversies and events, the just as varied social justice advocates have taken it upon themselves to trash the anime hobby simply because of the select few that use anime avatars on twitter.

I’m very curious about the cause of this hysteria; where even the mere hint, the gleam of an Azusa-chan avatar could send a grown person into a hateful tirade over a very small but vocal group of online nerds.

PROVOCATIVE, YET MOE

2014-09-06_11-04-16

Anime Studies Online is a recently assembled website with a focus on the collaborative nature of academic journals – except with anime. A far more professional attempt at coverage of anime as the sum of its parts rather than a homogenous and general summary. Despite their provocative domain name, their intent is clear and concise.

Why hello there, Masserati’s the name and I’m pretty happy to be able to write for this blog. I’ve been wanting to write in a blog format for quite some time after becoming frustrated with how MAL does things, but I’ve never had the time to properly go about setting up my own. Needless to say, I was more than willing to accept an offer to write for a blog that I find to be as entertaining as this one.
